Do A/B tests work for small D2C stores?
Short answer
Classic A/B tests need a lot of traffic to reach reliable results, so small stores often can’t run them on minor changes. Instead, make bigger, research-backed changes and compare performance before and after, or test on high-traffic pages only.
As a rough guide, if a page gets fewer than a few hundred orders a month, testing button colours won’t tell you much.
Focus on changes large enough to move the needle: a new offer structure, a redesigned product page, a different hero message or a simpler checkout.
